Age verification on Shopify, answered
How do I add age verification to my Shopify store?
Install AVP from the Shopify App Store, turn on the app embed in your theme editor and choose your minimum age. The popup appears on your store straight away and you can change the design and rules from the app.
Can I set the age to 21 instead of 18?
Yes. You choose the minimum age. With Premium you can set a different age per country, for example 21+ for the United States and 18+ for the United Kingdom.
Can I verify age at checkout?
Premium adds an age restriction banner and birth date inputs on the checkout page. Shopify Plus stores can run the age check inside checkout itself.
Can I show the popup only on certain products?
Yes. Show it on every page, or only on selected pages, collections, products or product tags.
Does the app store my customers’ birth dates?
No. The popup only checks the answer in the browser and remembers that the visitor passed, so they aren’t asked again on every page.
Is there a free age verification app for Shopify?
